Makeup, Skin Care and Parties

There are few things in this world that make me giddy (outside the obvious ones – my family and friends, a great book, glass of good wine, awesome cup of coffee – you get the idea), but makeup, skin care and parties are right up there with my top 10. Easily.

Recently, M got offered a job in LA, and this in turn means that the Confessions family is moving to La-La Land in January. Which is kind of cool and kind of freaking me out all at the same time. I’ve gotten used to have that extra padding in our bank account each month and thinking about not having that extra income was causing me to have little heart attacks. Then I got a text from my Mary Kay consultant asking me if I had thought about joining the MK family again. Talk about a light bulb moment.

I could do three of my favorite things and get paid to do it. Why would I not take the chance? I jumped at the opportunity and signed up for my first kit and ordered product right away. I even began planning who to talk to about this and organizing my first parties.

Aside from all the cool product, check out the bag!

But I have to be honest with you – not everyone has been super supportive of it. When I would tell people I’ve started my own Mary Kay business I would get one of three responses:

‘When do you get the pink car?’

‘You drank the pink Kool-Aid didn’t you?’ and

‘Are you nuts? No one ever makes those kinds of businesses work.’

Which was disappointing to say the least. And I got kind of tired defending my decision. I’m happy doing this. Shouldn’t that be enough?

mary kay deliveryI’m excited about this new phase in my life – I get to meet new people, I get to play with makeup and I have a wonderful support network within Mary Kay to guide me along my journey.

Even though there are people out there that are ‘poo-pooing’ this choice of mine (you know who you are, yes, you, I can see you), I have an awesome group of friends and family who are behind me 100%, (not least of which is M – although I really think he’s just waiting for all the cool, free stuff he gets if I really take off), and these people are the ones who will truly benefit from my success – I’m all about sharing the love.

And when you get a delivery like this, full of fun products and inspiration, how could I not be excited?

If you want to take a look at the products and see what this whole thing is about, go check out my Mary Kay website (yes, I have a website. I know, Iknow, like I need another social media thing to work on). And who knows, simply by being open to the possibilities, you might just find what you’ve been looking for – I did.

Till next time, let the fun times begin!

  1. you go girl I have known you for 39 years 7months and 25 days ( this doesn’t include the 9 months when I called you George waiting for you to enter the world) as a Fox we know you can achieve anything you put your mind to. luv ya

  2. I’d like to smack the ones who are poo-pooing your new venture. Granted I had no idea Mary Kay was still in business but still, you’re doing something that makes you happy and could bring in some income. Better than loafing around whining about nothing to do all day (yea, me at times…oops). Good luck with your new venture!

    1. Thanks Kim. I don’t expect to be a millionaire doing this (and frankly, I really don’t want a PINK caddie), but as long as it keeps me in makeup and shoes, I’m a happy girl.

  3. I am so excited for you! And pbft to anyone who throws their nose up at you! I just wish you were staying around here for me to host parties! But I will definitely order products through you!
