Adventures in Cooking – Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip

Yes, you read that right. ‘Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip‘. So forgeting the fact that it’s one long ass name for a recipe, it sounded not only tasty, but incredibly fattening right (fat = yummy goodness). But this particular recipe is actually healthy.

I know!!

But before you go rushing out to get the ingredients for this one, a word to the wise. This one was an EPIC failure for me. Totally, and utterly. Nothing against this person’s recipe (and no, Sierra, I’m not holding you responsible – although you did tell me how great this was) and I’m sure it’s totally up some people’s alley, it just didn’t do it for me.

I found it to be, in a word, ick. Ick, icky, ick-ittty ick.

And it’s for two reasons. One – it has nut butter. Which in hindsight, should have told me then and there that I was not going to like it (I don’t the nut butter thing – can’t stand peanut butter, so it should go without saying that pretty much any butter made of nuts is out. Except for Nutella. That stuff is frigging AWESOME). So, nut butter a big no-no for me. And two – well it’s healthy cookie dough. Just seems wrong.

ingredient list
The ingredients included things like chick peas (which I have nothing against), oats and nut butter. I used almond butter. Figured it was the safest option. Um, yeah, NO.

Here’s what mine turned out to look like.

epic cooking fail

See? ICK.

Now, granted, the half dozen or so people I made be guinea pigs for this said it was actually pretty good.

But it just didn’t do it for me.

So, from now on I’ll stick with dips that are savory – bring on the chips and salsa. As for cookie dough? I’m leaving that to the experts and keeping it where it belongs, baked into cookies.

Till next time, keep the faith and cross your fingers. I’m trying cheesecake next week!!

(and just a quick note – after doing this, I did Google ‘chocolate chip cookie dough dip’ and I found the perfect version of this for me. Mostly because in this recipe they are made with CREAM CHEESE!!)

  1. Healthy cookie dough. Talk about an oxymoron! Just give me the real cookie dough and I’ll be fine. If I want healthy I’ll eat a salad. Nuff said.

  2. I made this a few weeks ago. I suspect we had different recipes because this was a quick and yummy way to get chick pea goodness into my littles. I used chocolate covered Katie’s recipe. She knows stuff, that Katie.

Sorry it was a fail, for me it was a win!

    1. Jen, I used Katie’s recipe too – I really think for me the issue was the nut butter. I just can’t do it. Once I got a whiff of it, it put me off. But having said that, everyone I had try it loved it – so much so that I gave two people the link to the recipe and one friend went home with what I had made.
Again, like most things, what works for some might not work for others. And I love chick peas – hummus is yummy.

    1. I’m guessing it’s to help with the texture – and since it’s not being baked I don’t think it hurts. It was just way too healthy for me. I’ll take my fat thank you.
